Gourdis is an athletic key forward who stood out at the 2007 NAB AFL Draft Camp. In 2007 he booted 16 goals in 14 games for Subiaco in the WAFL colts where he averaged 17 disposals. Representing Western Australia at the 2007 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships he showed ability in the air with a total of five contested marks in two games.
