Raines played as a defender again in 2007 playing majority of his time on the smaller forwards, but also having stints on the likes of Nick Riewoldt (twice), Scott Welsh and Brent Staker. Despite recording career-high numbers in disposals, marks, uncontested possessions and inside 50s, he failed to finish in the top 10 of the B&F after finishing second in 2006.
