Burgoyne, a midfielder for a majority of his 11 years in the AFL, spent the second half of 2007 as a half-back flanker with enormous success. From Round 12 onwards he was the AFL's equal leading ball winner averaging 29 disposals, while also ranking No.1 in handball-receives, effective kicks, running bounces and rebound 50s. As a result he finished third in Port Adelaide's B&F - his best result since 2003 and the second time he has finished third. Burgoyne was one of the original squad members at Port Adelaide and his 208 games ranks second behind club captain Warren Tredrea.
