Chaplin is a defender who can win plenty of the ball highlighted by the fact he averaged the third-most disposals of any key defender in 2007. Chaplin ended the year on a high with brilliant performances in Port Adelaide's first two finals. He had 24 disposals and took 10 marks in the qualifying final win over West Coast and followed up with a career-high 32 disposals and eight marks against the Kangaroos in the preliminary final.
