Burgoyne has stamped himself as one of the most effective midfielders in the competition. It's the quality rather than the quantity that stands out with him, having more scoreboard impact than any other midfielder in the competition, not only booting 36 goals in the H&A rounds, but also assisting in 17 goals for teammates in that time - the equal-most at Port Adelaide. At the stoppages his work is cleaner than most ranking No.1 in the AFL in scores from clearances and No.1 for clearances inside 50. Burgoyne is an outstanding kick with his kicking efficiency in 2007 ranking as the best of any midfielder and his efficiency over his career also sits comfortably as the best of any current midfielder.
