Coming off back-to-back 50 goal seasons in 2005-06, Thompson was a cruel recipient of a season-ending knee injury in a NAB Regional Challenge match in the 2007 pre-season. At his best, Thompson does the bulk of his work inside the attacking 50 and is a strong mark. While his two full seasons at the Kangaroos since crossing from Hawthorn have been the best of his career, the query on Thompson is whether he can remain influential up forward returning from a year out.
