Simpson is the oldest player on the Kangaroos' list, having debuted in 1995 and captained the club since 2004. A dominant inside midfielder for close to a decade, Simpson returned another solid season in 2007 as he gradually moves from a predominantly in-and-under player to an outside one. Forever maligned for his poor kicking, the Kangaroos may be better served with him sticking to his strengths, such as winning the disputed ball and firing off a handball rather than kicking it inside 50.
