Big things were expected of Edwards in his first season at the Kangaroos after Nathan Thompson's season-ending injury in the pre-season. It wasn't until the end of 2007, however, that Edwards hit his best form, booting 11 goals in the final five games including a four-goal haul in the semi-final win over Hawthorn. A strong mark for his height, Edwards booted 100 goals in the VFL in 2006 after being delisted from West Coast's rookie list.
