Since being taken with pick No.2 in the 2002 NAB AFL Draft, Wells has been touted as one of the competition's most exciting youngsters, however he is yet to deliver on his potential for an entire season. At the beginning of the 2007 season he enjoyed possibly the best six weeks of his career, but after missing five games from Round 7 due to injury, he struggled for consistency upon his return. A ball-carrier with speed and elite kicking skills, Wells could be anything, but is yet to hit his peak after five seasons in the AFL.
