Bassett's 2007 season was cut short by an ankle injury in Round 13. Up until then he had conceded the equal-most goals at the Crows and effected the second-most spoils in the league. Bassett has been a safe user of the ball throughout his career hitting the target with 88% of disposals. His 13 games last season was his fewest in a season since 2002. Entering his 11th season he still remains an important component of Adelaide's successful defence.
