Goodwin, an elite ball winner of the competition, overcame a slow start in 2007 before dominating the final nine rounds of the season finishing with the sixth-most disposals, second-most clearances and equal fifth-most disposals in the AFL during that time. He has been the Crows leading clearance player in the past two seasons despite a drop in game time in 2007 which meant his overall disposals, contested possessions, uncontested possessions, tackles and clearances dropped. During the off-season he was announced as Adelaide's captain for the 2008 season - Adelaide's fifth skipper since its introduction into the AFL in 1991.
