Van Berlo was one of six Adelaide players to play all 23 games last season averaging a career-high 19 disposals. He also posted career-high numbers in tackles, inside 50s, clearances, hardball-gets, contested possessions and handball-receives. van Berlo was used primarily as a tagger in his first two seasons but was released from that role in 2007. In one rare instance of him being used in a tagging role last season he was opposed to Chad Cornes for 96 minutes in Round 18 keeping him to just 14 disposals.
