Van Berlo had an excellent finish to the 2008 season averaging 25 disposals, four marks and five clearances in his final six games of the season. He was a solid performer across the entire season averaging a career-high 21 disposals per game and ranking second at the club in clearances and scores from clearances. His kicking really let him down but he tried to offset this by handballing slightly more than he kicked last season. At 22 years of age, van Berlo looks to be ready to become a vital member of the Adelaide midfield in 2009.
