Symes played a career-high 16 games last season after crossing to the Crows from Port Adelaide in search of more opportunities. He averaged over 20 disposals per game for the second time in his career and averaged career-highs in inside 50s and rebound 50s. He missed the entire 2009 pre-season because of an unusual mishap where he broke his left thumb and his right wrist after falling off a boot of a car.
