Once again, Rutten was one of the competition's most solid defenders last season. He missed just one game across the season, playing the third most minutes of any Crows player. He also won more of the ball than ever before averaging career-highs of 15 disposals and seven marks per game. He also averaged more than one mark from opposition kicks for the first time in his career, averaging fewer spoils per game than his previous season.
