Second quarters costly

It was a very disappointing game for us on the weekend against the Bulldogs. We started so brightly and were in front by three goals at quarter-time but like the week before our second quarter has cost us four points. We have let North Melbourne and the Bulldogs run over the top of us in the second quarter in the past two weeks. As a result of these fade outs we have had to chase the games from here on in and like the week before last week we played some great football after half-time but were not good enough to get the win. The Doggies were harder than us and have really improved in this area and have been one of the best teams at contested footy this year. We butchered the football an awful lot on Sunday and turned it over so much that it was hard for us to get clean and easy goals compared to the Dogs who got the ball out of the middle a lot easier and were a lot cleaner with their disposals.
We have two weeks now to work on our skills and really work on our ball use. We have won three, lost three and drawn one so far and when I look back at our games we could have easily been six wins and one loss right now but we are not and we must move on, look forward to the middle part of the season and hopefully we will get a bit of luck come our way.
This weekend is a weekend off for most players but for myself, Brett Kirk and Craig Bolton we will be playing for the Dream Team against the Victorians who have Goodesy and Ryan O'Keefe on their side for the 150-year anniversary Hall of Fame Game at the MCG on Saturday night. This will be a fantastic experience and it will be great to meet and get to know other players from around the country and it will also be great to be playing against a few of my team-mates. There will be a fantastic atmosphere and it's a great opportunity to play with and against some of the great players of the competition and I feel very honoured to be selected and can't wait to get out there Saturday night.
